30 years, that’s crazy. There are so many great, and meaningful, songs on this album. But, I could listen to Swimming on a near constant loop. The intro to that song is simply one of my all time favorites.

I originally got Shipwreck from my community radio station during a fundraiser in ’95 or ’96; first time I’ve heard the solo stuff outside of RevCo and Ministry. Fast-forward to August of 2024 and I’m listening to my walkman, wandering around Chicago. I hit up N. Milwaukee from the Blue Line to grab one of your books and some LPs from Reckless. I had to toss the album on while I wandered around the store.

Shipwreck has long been a classic album to me and I thank you for everything. I hope to own it on wax if that day ever comes. Please put it out on Vinyl.

This is my fall/winter album since. It always brings me back to where I was at the time. It was during a huge turning point in my life where I had toned it down having decided that partying every night of the week was no longer viable. It helped me move forward from that era.

I don’t really know what exactly to say about this record except that it has meant as much to me as any record I’ve ever heard or owned. An absolute masterpiece. “Anyone’s Mistake” is just so tragically beautiful and has deep meaning to me whose grandfather died from DTs in a holding cell in a Texas jail before I was born; I myself am a recovering alcoholic. “Swimming” is just epic, a monumental, amazing song. I can’t put words to what these songs mean. . . . Of course, the title track does what it should, I think, which is to play its part as the 2nd or 3rd best track on the record. All good.

30 year ago I walked into Wax Trax! on Damen and scooped this masterpiece off the new release rack right in front of the main door. It’s remained in my collection ever since. About 4 years later I was fortunate to book Mr. Connelly to play Illinois State University. Mr. Connelly, you’re one of the post punk, industrial music’s greatest singers and song writers. I hope you’ve lived a full and rich life. The music business is a Hobbesian one. On behalf of Chicago, IL, Thank you.
